Campaign Kickoff a huge success!

Wow! What a fun kickoff. All the seats were filled, and people were standing on the sides and in the back.  The speakers all did a wonderful job; my father (previous President of the Illinois Community College Trustees Association), Mike Siegel (AM 1300 nationally-syndicated talk show host), Irene Endicott (who introduced me to the Evergreen Republican Women's Club in 2004), Reverend Wayne Perryman (longtime Seattle education activist and award-winning peacemaker between gangs), and Bill Cooper (retired Chief of Police from Bainbridge Island, and wife of Patty Cooper, running for Mukilteo City Council).  Friends, family, people I've gotten to know through the Edmonds Citizen's Levy Review Committee, homeschooling, my son's Debate Club, church, local business people, fellow candidates seeking office (Kerri Lonergan, running for Lynnwood City Council; Sean Salazar, running against U.S. Senator Patty Murray; Andrew Funk, running for Mountlake Terrace City Council)...a great bunch of fun, enthusiastic people.  I did not get a head count but it was easily over 100 people, and many of them offered to help with doorbelling, signwaving, etc.

My speech was well-received. Pretty fun to get my second standing ovation in a week.  I had just written the speech the day before, though of course I'd been chewing on ideas for awhile and had a rough outline in place.  (Thursday night's speech at the ERW went well too). I'll be posting an abbreviated version on my website soon.

Thanks to all of you who came and supported me!

Work Party and 2nd Amendment Calendar

Today my 4' by 8' banner arrived with Jaci's new design and it looks terrific! Also received rally signs, bumper stickers, etc.

The work party tonight was very productive. Folks I have gotten to know through church, homeschooling, Speech and Debate Club, Tea Parties, and conservative meetup groups came over for pizza and kickoff prep. I sure appreciate all of these grassroots activists helping me out! Thanks especially to the teens and tweens who gave up their Friday night to research, organize, and prepare. What a great bunch of civic-minded kids!

Tomorrow night is the 2nd Amendment Calendar party. The Evergreen Republican Women's Club has created a calendar with the gals in the club (yes, fully clothed) posing with various guns in famous movie poster scenes. 6:00 at Lumina Photography on Airport Road in Everett. All are welcome! The posters for each month will be revealed and the calendars will be for sale. I get my own month. I'm "The Patriot," a la Mel Gibson. Can't wait to see it!

My folks are here and my youngest sister too. Great to have them around! Lunch at Chanterelle's today was a real treat. My folks and sister LOVE Chanterelle's, which is great because Paul and I do too!

Store is open; Standing ovation; Kickoff this Monday!

Great news! The Elizabeth Scott for State Representative store is up and running at www.elizabeth4statestore.com      Head there to order shirts, polos, bumper stickers, jackets, and even golf balls with my logo!  Help spread the news about my candidacy.

This week has been very busy and fun.  Attorney General Rob McKenna met with me, gave me great advice, and also his 'hearty endorsement'!   Last night I received a standing ovation from the Evergreen Republican Women's Club and their guests for my 45-minute speech "The Value of Freedom: My Experience Teaching in China and the Middle East."   A reporter was there and witnessed the enthusiasm. It was a tough speech to give but it needed to be said.

My parents and youngest sister flew in last night from Illinois, to participate in the Kickoff Monday night. I hope you all can come!  Monday at 6:00 at the Edmonds Yacht Club, 456 Admiral Way, 98020.  My MC is Mike Siegel, nationally-syndicated talk show host.  Irene Endicott, Rev. Wayne Perryman, and Bill Cooper will also speak for a few minutes. Hope you can make it!
